The Shepherd's Hearth + Fable Farm Hearth Room Dinner

  • Fable Farm Fermentory 1525 Royalton Turnpike Barnard, VT, 05068 United States (map)

At The Shepherd’s Hearth, we elevate the sacred art of cooking with flame. We are a hyper-local, hyper-seasonal, 100% wood-fired, mobile open-fire kitchen. We curate artisan, handmade gatherings and events. Our goal is to nourish hearts and bellies and feed you as we feed our family. We believe this is authentic luxury. As long-time farmers ourselves, we know good practices and take the time to connect with the farmers we work with, to understand their needs and source the best Vermont has to offer.

Fable Farm & Fermentory is a dream collaboration and partner. Not only are we able to source directly from the land we’ll be cooking on, we also have the opportunity to pair our culinary offerings with Fable’s singular, living, wild-fermented wines and ciders! Each glass hums with the mineral, microbial, and seasonal vitality of the farm: bright, tart, food-loving, and alive. Throughout the Hearth Room Series, each meal will be centered on what Fable Farm has coming out of the gardens, fields, and cellar. This is terroir, a true taste of place.

At 5pm, the evening begins with a private wine cave tour, led by a Fable wine steward, with three exclusive tastings. Then you’ll be welcomed into the Hearth Room, with a stunning brick hearth and wood-fired oven, oak wine barrels, and a natural tablescape adorned with seasonal flowers. The evening is drenched in the glow of beeswax candles, with flowers adorning the table. You can feel the intention in each and every detail as the music cascades around you.

For this unique culinary pilgrimage, you’re seated right in front of the hearth, in community and simplicity, gathered around the fire and table, watching the chefs create their magic. You get an open kitchen, watching the season’s unique bounty prepared and cooked from scratch. The chef delivers your meal with the story of each ingredient, plated on beautiful, locally made Deep Woods Pottery.

It’s Omakase style. You give your trust to the chef, and each course becomes a surprise and a conversation piece. The wine steward then shares about each wine or cider as it is poured, while you enjoy three thoughtfully paired wines or ciders alongside your six-course meal.

You’re taken through a three-hour culinary experience, where the land you’re on has cultivated the flavors you enjoy. This is an experience of living food and living wines.

Join us and let your bare hands hold the fruits of passion poured out. This is authentic luxury: real, grounded, beauty.
